Construction formwork is a temporary supporting structure fabricated according to design specifications. It enables concrete structures and components to take shape in the prescribed positions and geometric dimensions, maintains their correct alignment, and bears both its own weight and external loads applied to it. The purpose of formwork engineering is to ensure the quality and safety of concrete work, accelerate construction progress, and reduce project costs.

Product Description

The formwork structure used in the construction of cast-in-place concrete structures consists primarily of three components: the panel, the supporting structure, and the connectors. The panel is the load-bearing surface that directly contacts the freshly poured concrete; the supporting structure is a temporary framework that supports the panel, the concrete, and the construction loads, ensuring that the formwork assembly remains firmly intact without deformation or damage. The connectors are components that join the panel to the supporting structure, integrating them into a unified whole.

Construction formwork refers to the molds and supports used to shape concrete during casting. Based on the material properties, it can be categorized into construction formwork, construction plywood, film-faced boards, multi-layer boards, double-sided glued boards, and double-sided film-faced construction formwork, among others. According to construction process conditions, construction formwork can be further classified into cast-in-place concrete formwork, pre-assembled formwork, large-formwork systems, and climbing formwork, among others.

The modular steel formwork is a new type of formwork that uses steel in place of wood. It boasts advantages such as strong versatility, convenient assembly and disassembly, and numerous reuse cycles—making it an ideal choice in modern formwork technology. When used for cast-in-place reinforced concrete construction, this formwork can be pre-assembled into large-scale templates for beams, columns, walls, and floor slabs according to design specifications. These templates can then be lifted into place as a whole, or alternatively, they can be assembled and disassembled in a loose, fragmented manner. [1]

Aluminum formwork—new construction formwork made from aluminum alloy—is an emerging green construction template in the building industry. With features such as simple operation, rapid construction, high returns, environmental friendliness and energy efficiency, multiple reuses, excellent concrete pouring results, and recyclability, it has been adopted by various construction companies. On November 27, 2014, at the “High-Level Forum on Expanding the Application of Aluminum in the Construction Industry,” it was proposed to expand the use of aluminum formwork, with a particular emphasis on promoting its adoption and accelerating the implementation of aluminum formwork construction standards.
